An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Kitchen Steward Supervisor to join Malta Marriott Resort & Spa. 

We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Kitchen Steward Supervisor to oversee daily stewarding operations, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation and safety across all kitchen and food service areas. This role is key in maintaining a hygienic, organized and efficient working environment while supporting kitchen operations and leading the stewarding team.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of stewarding staff to ensure smooth operations.

• Assign duties and monitor the proper cleaning of kitchen areas, equipment, utensils and work surfaces.

• Oversee dishwashing operations, ensuring correct washing, sanitizing and storage procedures are followed at all times.

• Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, storage areas and all back-of-house spaces.

• Train and guide stewarding staff on sanitation, hygiene and safety standards.

• Ensure proper handling, use, and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment in line with safety regulations.

• Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and request replenishment when required.

• Enforce food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards consistently.

• Conduct routine inspections and promptly address any sanitation or safety concerns.

• Report maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards in a timely manner.

• Support the Chief Steward and kitchen leadership in maintaining operational efficiency.

• Step in to perform stewarding duties during peak periods or staff shortages.

• Assist with staff scheduling and maintain attendance records as required.

• Coordinate with other departments to ensure minimal disruption to operations and a high standard of service.

• Adhere to grooming standards, company policies, and perform any other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous experience in a stewarding or dishwashing role, preferably within a hotel or similar environment.

• Prior supervisory or team-leading experience will be considered an asset.

• Strong knowledge of sanitation, hygiene and food safety standards.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

• Strong leadership, communication and teamwork skills.

• Good organizational and time management abilities with attention to detail.

• Ability to train, motivate and support team members.

• Physical ability to lift, carry and handle heavy equipment or supplies.

• Good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.

• Ability to communicate effectively in the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

• Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays if required.

• Basic knowledge of health and safety standards.
