Overview

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Group Sales Manager, within the Sales & Marketing Department of Malta Marriott Resort & Spa, one of Malta’s leading 5-Star properties and part of Marriott International - the world’s largest hospitality company, with Marriott Hotels being one of the most recognizable within its portfolio of over 30 diverse brands.

Working within the Sales team, this position carries the responsibility of handling Group Sales, while looking at maximizing revenue from defined market segments. Fostering and nurturing relationships with key clients and accounts; proactively uncovering new prospects / accounts; and maximizing conversion of business aligned to the hotels’ budgetary goals, are all essential functions in the role. 

Main Responsibilities:

• Representing Marriott International worldwide, promoting the quality image of the company at every opportunity and uncovering additional leads for the Malta Marriott Resort & Spa.  

• Manage relationships with pre-determined number of market segments, together with Destination Management Company (DMC) managed accounts and Marriott Global Sales Office (GSO) counterparts to ensure maximum yield and opportunities are tapped into, in line with budgetary objectives. 

• Handling Group business, ensuring that budgeted revenues are achieved, whilst looking into new markets.

• Conducting Sales trips and attending Trade shows, ensuring that the quality image of the organization is portrayed, and that every opportunity is taken to promote the Hotel. 

• Proactively prospecting new accounts and following the sales process through to convert into ‘producing’ accounts. 

• Teaming up with local DMCs on occasion to attend a trade show/ sales trip with the scope of maintaining and growing business relationships. 

• Organising/ hosting a number of events for clients/ local DMCs and supporting the hotel with any other Marketing events taking place throughout the year

The ideal candidate should have:

• A relevant bachelor's degree, ITS or a similar diploma;

• Previous experience in a 4 or 5 star hotel would be considered an asset;

• Experience using Opera Sales and Catering and PMS; 

• Excellent administrative and organizational abilities;

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, together with an excellent ability to build relationships, with a positive approach towards both external and internal guests;

• Possess excellent negotiating skills, with the ability to work unsupervised using own initiative;

• An excellent command of the English language. Knowledge of other languages will also be considered an asset.

• Candidate must exhibit strong personal confidence and good presentation skills, willingness to learn continuously and having a structured approach to planning, being a team player and able to work independently and under pressure.
