Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Security, Health and Safety Manager to join Malta Marriott Resort & Spa.

We are looking for a dedicated professional who will take ownership of ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and security across our property: safeguarding our guests, associates and assets while maintaining the world-class hospitality standards for which Marriott is renowned.

Reporting directly to the hotel’s General Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health, safety, and security programs in line with local legislation, Marriott International policies, and best industry practices.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring a safe and secure environment for all guests, associates, and visitors.
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing the hotel’s Health, Safety and Security policies, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with Marriott International standards.
  • Responsible for inspections, audits, risk assessments and recommending improvements to minimize hazards and enhance safety culture.
  • Acting as the key individual responsible for the hotel’s emergency response team, coordinating preparedness and crisis response activities.
  • Undertaking and leading investigations into incidents, injuries or security breaches and maintaining accurate records in compliance with legal and company requirements.
  • Designing and delivering the Marriott International training base programs to ensure awareness and best practices across all departments.
  • Managing and controlling the lost and found procedures of the hotel.
  • Managing, controlling, and enforcing the key control systems to ensure that all assets are safe and protected at all times.
  • Liaising with external authorities, contractors, and internal departments to ensure effective communication and compliance.
  • Ensuring the effective financial management of the department by setting budget and capex as needed.
  • Organizing and conducting safety committee meetings 
  • Serving as the hotel’s Sustainability Champion, ensuring compliance with local environmental standards, and promoting a culture of responsibility and continuous improvement within the hotel.

About You

  • Proven experience in a Security, Health and Safety Management role, ideally within the hospitality or luxury hotel industry.
  • A recognized qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field would be preferred.
  • Strong understanding of local Health, Safety and Security legislation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong computer literacy.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
  • Discreet, professional, and passionate about maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for both guests and associates.
  • Flexibility to work on shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required.
