Malta Marriott Resort & Spa is looking to recruit a Pastry Commis Chef to join our esteemed kitchen team on a full-time basis. As a Pastry Commis Chef, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods, ensuring exceptional culinary experiences for our guests. Your role will involve maintaining consistency, creativity, and attention to detail in all pastry items, ensuring that every dish reflects the high standards of the Marriott brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods following Marriott’s standards and recipes.
  • Support the Pastry Chef in ensuring consistency and creativity in all pastry items served.
  • Set up and maintain a well-organized pastry station, including proper storage and rotation of ingredients.
  • Prepare mis-en-place for pastry section and ensure timely execution of all pastry orders.
  • Participate in buffet and banquet service setups, ensuring an appealing and artistic display.
  • Ensure that all health, hygiene, and food safety regulations are strictly adhered to.
  • Work collaboratively with the broader kitchen team to maintain efficiency and high service standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry section, including tools and equipment.
  • Create a lasting positive impression through attention to detail and dedication to delivering exceptional pastry experiences for guests.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A culinary diploma or equivalent vocational training, specializing in pastry or baking.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a pastry kitchen, preferably in a hotel or fine dining setting.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality desserts.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude.
  • Knowledge of proper food handling, hygiene, and safety procedures.
